An update has been issued concerning a pregnant Fall River woman that was recently shot.

Early Sunday morning, a 31-year-old drove herself to the hospital after being shot in Fall River.

Sister of the victim, Devinie Alves, created a GoFundMe fundraiser for her sister on Friday and issued an update on her condition.

“As you may all know by now, my sister has encountered a terrible tragedy while being 6 months pregnant with twins. On Sunday morning April 30th, she was minutes away from her home when her car was gunned down, which lead to her being shot in the leg, causing her not to be able to walk or do everyday things on her own. Her recovery has just begun, and she was recently rushed to the hospital from passing out due to the trauma.”

“Alyssa is high risk with her pregnancy and this tragedy caused her to be even more of higher risk. She is set to have her twins in about less than 3 months and also has a 3 1/2-year-old daughter that she has to take care of as well through this process. She is not working and now has no car. We’re asking you to please help out as much as you can so that my sister could recover with not having to worry about bills and medical bills due to the type of insurance Alyssa has as well as everyday expenses.”

“It took a lot for Alyssa to agree on making this GoFundMe because she is not one to ask for help at all, so anything will help and would be much appreciated. We just want my sister to have a stress-free recovery, and with the help of our loved ones, friends, and community, you all can make this happen for her. We want to thank you in advance for all the love and support.”

No update has been issued by police concerning a possible suspect.
