Several reported injuries in Route 24 South crash
Update from Massachusetts State Police: The group on the bus is believed to include parents and children. The bus was returning to Tiverton, RI from group trip to LaSalette Shrine in North Attleboro. Two adults were transported to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries. All occupants are accounted for. All other transports are not believed to be serious injuries at this time. Also, a passenger car also went off the road. Operator of the other vehicle that went off the road in this incident has been determined to be OUI and was arrested. However, whether that operator’s impairment caused the crash, or whether another cause, remains under investigation. Heavy duty tow truck now on scene.
Scanner transmissions are reporting a serious crash on Route 24 South in Berkley between Exits 11-12.
A school bus is reportedly off the road.
Police are reporting the bus went off the road into the right shoulder and went into the woods and did not roll over.
Berkley Fire Chief has called in a mass casualty incident.
At least 13 ambulances are in route to the crash.
According to Massachusetts State Police, 25 passengers were involved with ages ranging from young children to adults.
Highway is reportedly shut down in the area.
According to Massachusetts State Police, Troopers, Taunton EMS, and Berkley EMS are on scene.

You should probably fix the headline considering you put “casualties” seriously?

We modified the headline earlier to avoid confusion, but a casualty refers to someone injured or dead. It doesn’t mean a fatality. It also came in as a mass casualty incident by the Chief before more details were known.
