Several Massachusetts courts, including the Fall River District Court, are temporarily closing due to cases of COVID-19.
The Fall River District Court will close temporarily for disinfecting and will reopen on Thursday, November 12th.
A Probation Officer who was last at the courthouse on Nov. 4th, has tested positive for coronavirus. Other courts at the Fall River Justice Center will remain open.
The East Brookfield District Court will close temporarily for disinfecting and will reopen on Thursday, November 12.
Staff in the Clerk’s Office have tested positive for the coronavirus.
The District Court and Essex Juvenile Court in Newburyport have closed temporarily for disinfecting and will reopen on Thursday, Nov 12.
A police officer who was at the courthouse today has tested positive for COVID-19.
The Newton District Court will be closed for in-person access to the Courthouse until November 13th and will be conducting all matters virtually. All matters including arraignments, restraining orders and other emergency protective orders and all mental health emergencies will be conducted virtually as well as any other criminal or civil matters previously scheduled for an in person proceeding . Somerville District Court will operate virtually through November 13, 2020 with very limited public access to the courthouse. Criminal arraignments for those in custody and proceedings brought pursuant to Mass General Laws Chapter 123 section 35 will proceed on an in-person basis. All other matters including restraining orders and other emergency protective orders will be conducted virtually as well as any other non-custody criminal matters previously scheduled for an in-person proceeding. All custody matters previously scheduled for an in-person proceeding will proceed as scheduled. All matters scheduled for a remote hearing will proceed as scheduled.
