Several guns and $100,000 seized, 50-year-old arrested, after incident in Barrington
A local man is facing several charges after an arrest this week.
According to Police Chief Michael Correia, on Monday, at 5:00 p.m., the Barrington Police Department was contacted by the Rhode Island Sheriff’s Department to assist them in serving a “No Contact Order” and a “Vacate” order. BPD Patrol Officers responded to East Spring Street and assisted the RI Deputy Sheriff.
A 50-year-old male resident of the home, Hongnian Guo, was served with the orders. Guo was allowed to gather up some belongings and vacated the premises.
While still on scene, the BPD patrol officers received information of a possible firearm in the home. As a result of this information, a loaded “P80” 9mm caliber “Ghost Gun” pistol equipped with a 27 round large capacity magazine was seized.
An arrest warrant was drafted and subsequently signed, charging Guo with ghost gun charges and Possession of Large Capacity Feeding Device (magazine).
At 9:00 p.m., Hongnian Guo was arrested without incident on the arrest warrant. As a result of the arrest, Guo was found to be in possession of another loaded “P80” 9mm “Ghost Gun” pistol equipped with a 27 round large capacity magazine, a loaded Sig Sauer .45 caliber pistol, and over $100,000.
Guo was transported to the BPD Headquarters where he was booked and charged with Possession of a Firearm without a License and an additional count of Possession of a Ghost Gun or Undetectable Firearm and Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device.
Guo was transported to RI Hospital for a medical condition (unrelated to his arrest) where he was eventually arraigned by a Bail Commissioner and turned over to the care and custody of the RI Sheriff’s Department.
Guo will appear before a District Court judge at a future date.
On Tuesday, the Barrington Police Department petitioned the RI Superior Court and obtained an Extreme Risk Protection Order (Red Flag Law) and executed a search warrant at the East Spring location.
The Barrington Police Department’s Detective Bureau is still investigating the incident.
