Several crews respond as 6 injured, 1 seriously, after dumpster strikes SUV in Massachusetts
A Massachusetts crash led to a handful of injuries.
According to police, on Tuesday at approximately 3:15 p.m., Harvard Police, Fire, and EMS responded to a serious motor vehicle crash in the vicinity of 128 Poor Farm Road. The incident was caused by an unsecured door on a commercial vehicle carrying a dumpster. The unsecured door swung open and struck a telephone pole in the eastbound lane. The force of the impact dislodged the secured dumpster from its hinges, causing it to rotate across the truck and strike an SUV traveling westbound in the oncoming lane.
The operator of the SUV sustained serious injuries and was transported to UMASS Worcester Hospital for treatment. Five other occupants of the SUV were also transported by ambulance to Nashoba Valley Medical Center.
Boxboro Police Commercial Vehicle Unit, the Massachusetts State Police Truck Team, and the Harvard Public Safety Drone Team provided assistance in responding to the incident.
