Services announced for Fall River man who gave city decades of service to community

Fall River has lost a city resident that gave decades of service to the city.

80-year-old Antone Correia passed away on Tuesday following a long illness.

 According to an obituary, prior to his retirement, he worked as a S.R.T.A. bus driver for many years. He started with the Auxiliary Fire Dept in 1974 and was then promoted to Captain of Special Services. He received multiple promotions throughout his tenure and upon retiring he served as Executive Captain of Special Services. He received many commendations from the City of Fall River for his dedication and accomplishments.

Tony was known as a fun-loving family man which garnered the nickname “Papa”.

 Correia leaves behind his wife of 63 years, 5 children, 11 grandchildren and soon to be 13 great-grandchildren. 

 His funeral will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 8:45 AM from the Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford St., Fall River, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in St. Bernard’s Church, 30 South Main St., Assonet at 10:00 AM. Visitation will take place on Friday, May 3, 2024 in the Silva-Faria Funeral Home from 4-8 PM. Committal and internment in Notre Dame Cemetery.
