The names of both victims in a fatal motorcycle crash in Somerset on Saturday morning have been released.

According to Seekonk Police Chief David Enos, 28-year-old Ptlw. DeForitis of East Taunton was involved in the crash as a passenger of the motorcycle.

Ptlw. DeForitis served with the Seekonk Police Department for just under 3 years, having attended the Cape Cod Municipal Police Academy in 2021. Since that time, she has been assigned to the Patrol Division and according to Enos was outstanding in her various roles as a community outreach officer.

Enos stated that Kourtny had a particular fondness for the youth of Seekonk and could be found playfully interacting with them in the schools and at community events, usually with a bright smile on her face and a contagious laugh.

At just before 1:15 a.m., Somerset Police received a report of a vehicle that had struck a telephone pole at the Route 103 rotary.

Upon arrival, officers located a motorcycle and a vehicle with two victims lying in the roadway. The male victim was pronounced dead on-scene. DeForitis was transported by Somerset EMS to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

According to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, 44-year-old Daniel Glover of South Easton was the second fatality in the crash.

The driver of the vehicle was transported by Somerset EMS to a nearby hospital out of an abundance of caution.

The investigation revealed that the motorcycle driven by Glover entered the rotary in the wrong direction, colliding with the vehicle.

According to Miliote, no charges will be filed.
