Scammer tries to fool Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey, advises residents
A scammer who contacted the Massachusetts Attorney General was in for a rude awakening.
Maura Healey tweeted that someone tried scamming her this week, which was a mistake.
“I just got a call from a scammer posing as Eversource, claiming I was behind on my payments and threatening to cut off my service.”
“Needless to say, he called the wrong attorney general.”
“If you get one of these calls—hang up, don’t give out any info, and contact your utility.”
Healey also took the time to remind residents that “there is a moratorium on utility shutoffs in Massachusetts until July 1st. If you are struggling to pay your utility bills, there is help available. Contact your utility TODAY and learn about LIHEAP.”
