Hours prior to the hit-and-run collision, Pawtucket Police Officers received a FLOCK License Plate Recognition alert indicating that the stolen vehicle was traveling within the City of Pawtucket. Moments later, officers located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop. The operator failed to stop, and a brief vehicle pursuit ensued. In the interest of public safety, the vehicle pursuit was ultimately terminated.

With the assistance of the Central Falls Police Department, investigators developed a suspect in the case. Through further investigation, members of the Pawtucket Police Department’s Major Crime Unit were able to positively identify the suspect as 26-year-old Maryna Ohagan of Providence.

An arrest warrant was subsequently issued, and Ohagan was later apprehended by the Providence Police Department. She was then turned over to the Pawtucket Police Department, where she provided a full confession regarding her involvement in the incident.

Ohagan has been charged with Duty to Stop in an Accident Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury (1st Offense), Possession of a Stolen Vehicle or Vehicle Parts, Larceny Over $10,000, and Reckless Driving and Other Offenses Against Public Safety.
