Rhode Island State Police investigate fatal crash that killed 48-year-old man
A local man has been killed in a serious weekend crash.
According to Rhode Island State Police, on Saturday, just after 4:30 p.m., Troopers from the Wickford Barracks, along with members of the North Kingstown Rescue and Fire Department, responded to reports of a single vehicle crash on Route 4 South in the vicinity of Route 102 in the Town of North Kingstown.
The investigation revealed that a Toyota pickup truck was traveling in the right lane of Route 4 South. As the vehicle passed the Route 102 overpass, the operator, identified as David J. Correira, age 48, of Narragansett, lost control of his vehicle. The pickup veered right, left the roadway, and struck two trees that were located in the right shoulder. This collision forced the vehicle to spin 180 degrees and roll over, coming to rest on its driver’s side in the right shoulder, facing northbound.
Correira was pronounced deceased on scene by members of the North Kingstown Fire Department.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
