Rhode Island nursing home resident accused of killing roommate ruled incompetent to stand trial

A Rhode Island nursing home resident that is accused of killing his roommate after he says the victim tried to kill him first, has been ruled incompetent to stand trial.

76-year-old Robert Hill of Warren was charged on April 27th with first-degree murder in the death of 81-year-old John Sullivan who was found by staff with pillow stuffing inside his mouth at the time of his death.

Personnel responded to Crestwood Nursing & Rehabilitation at 568 Child Street in Warren at approximately 10:15 p.m. for a sudden death at the residence.

Hill reportedly stated that Sullivan had been trying to kill him for 5, 10 years prior to him being found deceased.

Hill was committed to the custody of the state Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities & Hospitals, according to WJAR10 with the next hearing scheduled on the case set to take place on August 21st.
