A local man is facing several charges after a reported standoff with police late last week.

According to police, on Friday at approximately 7:30 p.m., police units responded to 300 Parkview Drive in Pawtucket in an attempt to take a suspect, identified as 58-year-old Alim A. Tajudeen, into custody on 24-hour felony domestic violence charges.

The victim reported to police that Tajudeen had put a knife to her neck earlier and was stating that he had nothing to lose and was not leaving the apartment. She further reported that he made threats to harm himself or go out by way of suicide by police.

A perimeter was established, and contact was made via telephone with Tajudeen. Tajudeen refused to leave the apartment and stated that he did not want to talk with police. A Crisis Negotiation Team member responded to further assist. Contact was once again made with Tajudeen where the negotiator was able to convince him to exit that apartment and surrender himself voluntarily. Tajudeen was subsequently taken into custody without further incident.

Tajudeen is being charged with Domestic Violence -Felony Assault/ Battery, Possession of Knife during Commission of a Crime, Domestic Violence- Refusal to Relinquish Phone, and Domestic Violence- Disorderly Conduct.

He was arraigned by a bail commissioner at police headquarters.
