Rhode Island man sentenced in Fall River in wrong-way Bristol County crash that killed 31-year-old Kerrie Dolbashian
A Rhode Island man has been sentenced after pleading guilty in Fall River Superior Court concerning a wrong way fatal crash in Bristol County.
According to court records, 37-year-old Gonsahn Kamara of Pawtucket pled guilty Wednesday to Manslaughter While OUI, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and OUI Liquor-2nd Offense.
Kamara was sentenced to not less than 6 years to not more than 9 years in prison.
According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, in May 2022, MSP received calls reporting a wrong way driver going south on the northbound side of 495 in Mansfield; cruisers started responding to the area in an attempt to locate/stop the wrong way vehicle.
Cruisers arrived at the scene to find a head-on crash caused by the wrong way driver. Subsequent investigation indicated that the wrong-way vehicle, a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder being operated by 35-year-old Gonsahn Kamara of Pawtucket, traveled southbound on Route 495 north, collided head-on with a 2019 Toyota Camry that had been traveling in the correct direction on Route 495 north.
The driver of the Toyota had obvious fatal injuries at the scene. She was identified as Kerrie Dolbashian, 31, of Smithfield, R.I. Kamara suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by Med-Flight to Brigham and Woman’s Hospital.
