Rhode Island man accused of assaulting his wife, possessing six large capacity magazines

Attorney General Peter Neronha announced that a Rhode Island man has been charged in Providence County Superior Court with assaulting his wife, as well as possessing six large capacity magazines, following his arrest by the Cumberland Police on February 16, 2023.

On May 16, 2023, the Office of the Attorney General charged 31-year-old Pablo Cintron of Cumberland by way of criminal information, with six counts of possession of a large capacity magazine, one count of domestic assault, and one count of domestic disorderly conduct.

As alleged in the criminal information, on February 16, 2023, a female victim reported an incident of domestic violence at the hands of her husband, Cintron. The victim described a verbal argument between the two parties that eventually escalated into a physical altercation. Allegedly, Cintron shook the victim and repeatedly pushed her down on her back, causing her to hit her head against a wall. Cintron then retrieved a gun from his safe and pointed it at his head before placing it back in the safe. Shortly after, the victim left the apartment and reported to work. Later that morning, a colleague of the victim called the police when Cintron showed up at their workplace, and police arrested him.

As further alleged, Cintron granted police permission to seize his firearms due to the incident being domestic in nature. From Cintron’s safe, officers retrieved a Glock 19 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, a Sig Sauer SIG 516 5.56 caliber semi-automatic rifle, and six large capacity magazines.

Cintron is scheduled for a pre-arraignment conference on July 27, 2023, in Providence County Superior Court.
