Recent Bristol County Sobriety Checkpoint results in multiple arrests
A recent Sobriety Checkpoint by Massachusetts State Police resulted in multiple arrests.
Colonel Christopher S. Mason, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, announced that a “Sobriety Checkpoint” would be implemented by the Massachusetts State Police on a Public Way in Bristol County this past weekend.
The purpose of the checkpoints are to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways.
The checkpoints are operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety.
According to the State Police Association of Massachusetts, over the weekend, D Troop operated a sobriety checkpoint in Raynham with the Breath Alcohol Testing vehicle (BAT mobile) on Saturday due to a grant by Highway Safety Division of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security.
Several drivers were found to be impaired and subsequently taken off the road and arrested.
