Raynham Police looking for suspect in stabbing
RAYNHAM — Chief James Donovan reports that the Raynham Police Department is actively searching for a man who allegedly stabbed a woman multiple times in her home Wednesday afternoon, April 8.
Jacob Szalno, 24, whose last known address is a Brockton homeless shelter, has a warrant out for his arrest on charges of Attempted Murder, Mayhem, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Assault and Battery.
Szalno should not be approached and anyone who sees him or knows his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
At approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday, Raynham Police responded to a home on Broadway for a report of a stabbing.
Upon arrival, officers located a 33-year-old woman that was suffering from six stab wounds. The woman was transported to an area hospital with injuries that are serious, but are not believed to be life-threatening.
The initial investigation indicates that the incident was not random and that the woman and suspect were friends. Szalno allegedly stabbed the woman with a pair of scissors before fleeing the house on foot into a nearby wooded area.
Several officers responded to the scene, including a Raynham Police K-9 officer, Massachusetts Department of Correction K-9 officer and the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing. The weapon used in the attack was located and seized as evidence.
Officers set up a perimeter and searched the area extensively but were unable to locate the suspect. Szalno remains at-large and police are actively seeking to place him under arrest.
