Rapes up 14% in Fall River in 2025, up 38% compared to the 5 year average

According to the Fall River Police Department’s newly release 2025 crime data, rapes in Fall River increased by 14% in 2025 compared to 2024, while increasing a staggering 38% compared to the past 5-year average. Per the FRPD’s 2026 mid-year report, rapes are already up almost 9% over 2025.

The alarming part of the rape statistics is that rapes in 2025 were 38% higher than the previous 5 year average. The “normal range” is 41-53 yet Fall River saw 57 in 2024 and 65 in 2025 – both above the normal range.

  • 2021: 43
  • 2022: 48
  • 2023: 46
  • 2024: 57
  • 2025: 65
  • 2026: 38 (Jan through June)

In 2026, there were 38 rapes in the city in the first 6 months, or 8.6% higher than the same timeframe of 2025. This means the city is on pace for 76 rapes in 2026 a large jump from 41 in 2020 and another year well about the 5 year average.

Sexual Assault Calls for Service up nearly 14%

In 2025, the Fall River Police Department responded to 134 calls for service regarding sexual assaults which is an increase from 2024 by 13.56%, but the total assaults are over 200.

Per the 2025 Fall River Crime Report, the FRPD: “The number of reported sexual assault calls for service does not fully capture the scope of sexual assault investigations conducted by the Fall River Police Department. In addition to cases initiated through calls for service, investigators conducted follow-up investigations into more than 200 additional sexual assault-related complaints.”
