Pursuit through Freetown, New Bedford, Lakeville where suspect hurled items leads to arrest

A police chase through multiple communities led to two arrests on a list of charges.

According to Lakeville Police, on Tuesday, at approximately 6:35 p.m., Lakeville Police received reports from Taunton Police of a stolen vehicle entering the Town of Lakeville. A 911 caller reported the vehicle traveling south on Route 18 (Bedford St.).

Lakeville officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled, leading officers on a pursuit. During the pursuit, the suspect hurled items, such as tools, bottles, clothing, and a backpack at pursuing officers. The vehicle was stopped on Route 140 with the use of a Stop Stick tire deflation device.

Arrested from the vehicle was Jeffrey Shorey, 41 of Lynn, is charged with Receiving stolen motor vehicle, Receiving stolen property, Assault with a dangerous weapon, Resisting arrest, Conspiracy, Operating with a suspended license, Failure to stop for police, Reckless & negligent operation of a motor vehicle, Speeding, Littering, and Multiple warrants for 8 felony charges and 4 misdemeanors.

Felicia Shorey, 37 of Billerica, is charged with Receiving stolen motor vehicle, Conspiracy, and Multiple felony warrants

Both suspects were arraigned today in Wareham District Court. The Lakeville police were assisted by Freetown Police and K9, New Bedford Police, Massachusetts State Police, and Plymouth County Sherriff’s Department.
