According to Tuesday’s City Council meeting, the Pay As You Throw program may not be going away.

According to Cathy Ann Viveiros, there are a lot of unknowns for Fall River’s 2019 fiscal year budget. How much funding we get from the state could dramatically change the budget.

Fall River Reporter contacted Viveiros and she reiterated that there has been no change in the program or the requirement to use purple bags for trash disposal.

With a budget needed to be delivered by May 15th, the city should soon get answers on the state of the “purple bags” program. As of now, however, the program is still in place.

The Pay as You Throw Program brings in about $2.5 million dollars to the city. Would you rather see a tax increase to make up the difference, but not have to use the bags? Let us know!
