Project Reconnect, Peer 2 Peer offer help to Fall River addicts
Many of us know that the drug epidemic here in Fall River is at an all-time high. You scroll through Facebook scanner groups and see overdose after overdose after overdose. You see the comments everyday. “Prayers”. “I hope they will get help”. You think to yourself, why do you never hear of some sort of drug addiction group at the scene of an OD? All is not lost. There is Project Reconnect.
Project Reconnect goes to the homes of addicts who have recently overdosed to see if they are interested in treatment. They go door to door visiting these homes with a volunteer escort from the Fall River Police Department. They have been doing these visits since January of this year. They even provide Narcan if he or she accepts it. Reconnect members typically have a few questions for the addict or family member and afterwards they include some very useful information. You can call any time, day or night at 508-676-3528. If you are looking for additional help, “Peer 2 Peer” offers a safe and confidential place for individuals to listen and learn from those that have been through overdosing and addiction themselves.
If you know someone that needs help or you, yourself would like to have more information on these programs, call Project Reconnect at the number listed above or Peer2Peer at 508-567-5086.
