Potential human remains found near where Bristol County man went missing

Possible remains have been located near where a Bristol County man was last seen.

According to Chief of Police Keith Boone, at just after 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Easton Police received a report of potential human remains discovered in the area of 100 Summer Street. An area resident located the remains in a brook adjacent to their property.

Easton Detectives and Massachusetts State Police Crime Services responded. The area was secured while the scene was processed by investigators. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner collected the remains and testing will be conducted to confirm if they are in fact human.

Matthew Yeomans of Easton was last seen Sunday, Sept. 19 of 2021, at approximately 9 p.m. at his grandfather’s home on the 100 block of Summer Street in Easton.

His wallet, ID, credit/debit cards, cash, and phone were all left at home.

Yeomans was reported missing on Tuesday, Sept. 21. 2021. At the time of his disappearance, Easton Police, with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing, K-9 units, all-terrain vehicles and mountain bikes searched the area in the vicinity of Yeomans’ grandfather’s home on Summer Street, but all search efforts thus far have been unsuccessful in locating Yeomans.

Boone stated that at this time, there is no further information, and the incident will remain under investigation.

    All the factions dispersed in the initial search and nobody thought to look in the brook? A total waste of taxpayer dollars.

      First, we don’t know if it is him. Secondly, do you know for sure the Brook was not checked. Sad but this does happen. I stated a very similar situation of a nearby neighbor. Searched everywhere high and low, in and out, woods and water, him, buildings. Never to be found until many many many many months later on an area that was searched!
