Portsmouth, Tiverton, Middletown, Little Compton, DEM respond to morning water rescue

Multiple local crews made a Saturday morning water rescue.

According to Portsmouth Rhode Island Firefighters, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Portsmouth fire fighters along with various mutual aid communities responded to the Sakonnet River for a vessel overturned with multiple people in the water.

Portsmouth along with the Tiverton Fire Department were able to rescue 3 people from the water and transport them to land for evaluation.

Thankfully all parties were wearing life jackets in which could have otherwise been a tragic event.

Other responding assets were Middletown FD, Little Compton and DEM.
