The Portsmouth Police Department is looking for assistance in solving several recent car breaks that have occurred in the overnight hours.

Last week, patrol officers responded to the neighborhoods of Buckwheat Ave, Stubtoe Lane, Water Street and Johnny Cake Lane (separate, dates and times) for reports of residents observing people in hooded sweatshirts on their property and either attempting or entering unlocked vehicles. A photograph of one of the videos shows the suspect wearing a dark hooded sweat shirt, dark pants and “Van like” sneakers. During the incidents there was one report of loose change being stolen. Residents are encouraged to secure their vehicles and contact the department if they witness any suspicious activity.
