Portsmouth Police arrest local woman accused of trafficking fentanyl in the area, held without bail
Portsmouth, RI-(December 7, 2023)-A local woman is being accused of trafficking fentanyl.
According to police, on Wednesday at approximately 11:00 a.m., after an ongoing investigation, the Portsmouth Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop on Boyd’s Lane of a suspected drug trafficker that was known to be operating in town.
During the motor vehicle stop, the operator was identified as Samantha Carfora, 29 years of age, formerly of Middletown, Rhode Island.
Approximately 18 grams of suspected fentanyl were discovered and seized during the motor vehicle stop. The drugs were tested at Portsmouth Police Headquarters which confirmed the substance as fentanyl.
Carfora was arrested on scene and charged with the delivery of a controlled substance.
Carfora was later transported and arraigned in the 2nd Division District Court where she was held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institute.
