UPDATE: Pool at Lafayette Park in Fall River re-opened after broken glass found
UPDATE: According to DCR, the pool is now open and available for swimming.
Our previous story:
The Veterans Memorial Pool in Fall River has been closed which has left many area children and teens struggling to cool off on a summer’s day.
The pool was closed today after glass bottles were apparently thrown in the pool overnight.
When we contacted DCR, they informed us that a re-opening date for the pool has not yet been determined. We asked for details concerning the incident, but they would not reveal them.
When we contacted Fall River police, they had no record of a call concerning the incident.
In the meantime, Fall River has several splash pads throughout the city to help beat the heat.
