Poll results: 60% against the recall of Fall River Mayor Jasiel Correia
In our online poll, 60% voted against recalling Fall River Mayor Jasiel Correia with 40% supporting the effort. Over 2,500 unique voters over a four day period voted in the Fall River Reporter Facebook poll.
The signed affidavit calling for the recall of Mayor Jasiel Correia II has been officially approved by the board of elections on Monday, October 29th. The recall group has 20 days from October 29th to obtain just over 2,500 signatures (five percent of the city’s registered voters). A recall election will occur if the correct amount of signatures are received and certified and the Mayor does not resign from office in 5 days from the certification.
The poll results give no indication if the recall petitioners will be successful in getting the legal amount of signatures over the 20-day period. However, the results do show strong support for Mayor Correia should the recall effort succeed and a recall election occurs. Mayor Correia has issued a statement regarding the recall effort here.
Mayor Jasiel was arrested on Oct 11, 2018 and charged with wire and tax fraud in connection with a multi-year investment fraud scheme tied to his SnoOwl app before he became mayor of Fall River. You can read the U.S. Attorney’s statements and indictments here.
In our previous poll, 76% of voters wanted Mayor Correia to step down.

In the end, the Boy Emperor will listen to the second poll and not the first. An overwhelming majority want him to step down. A simpler majority do not support recall, either to save the City some money or to dave the City some embarrassment. The Mayor is an arrogant, egotistical sociopath who seems to think he is going to miraculous skate through Federal Court unscathed. Wake up, step down and let the City move on. If by some miracle you don’t go to Federal prison, you can come and run for Mayor again. Love the City? Step down! Love yourself more? I guess you will stay.

I do not support the recall because it is an expense we do not need, the Mayor’s term has roughly a year remaining and by the time the recall is actually held possibly around 6 months so why needlessly spend the funds that can be used elsewhere for other more important issues.
