Authorities Wednesday captured two known gang members who were wanted on several drug and firearm charges.

According to Detective John Robinson, members of the Southeastern Massachusetts Gang Task Force (SEMGTF) consisting of members of the Massachusetts State Police and Fall River Police Special Operations Division Detective Eric Copsetta, were provided information that 27 year old James Mendes (a validated member of the CP2 Charlame 2 gang out of Roxbury) and 27 year old Tyre J. Wade (a validated member of the Spencer Street Gang out of Boston), who were both wanted on numerous warrants for drug and firearms violations, would be in possession of a 2011 Mercedes.

At approximately 8:10 p.m., the SEMGTF unit observed the 2011 Mercedes parked in the lot of a North Main Street gas station and observed both Wade and Mendes inside the station.

The SEMGTF unit apprehended Mendes without incident, and took Wade into custody after a brief struggle. Wade was found in possession of 15 baggies of Crack Cocaine (7.32 grams) and 1 baggie of Heroin (11.04 grams).

On top of the new charges of Possessing to Distribute Class A and B Substances, both Wade and Mendes were arrested on the following outstanding warrants: Trafficking Fentanyl, Numerous Firearms Violations, Assault and Battery With a Dangerous Weapon, Threats, and Assault.
