Police officers find man dead after barricaded standoff in Foxboro

A man was found dead Friday after an incident in Foxboro.

According to Foxboro Police, at approximately 9:30 a.m., officers from the Foxborough Police Department responded to an address on McKenzie Lane regarding a possible resident in need of assistance.

Upon arrival, officers determined that the resident of the home was armed with a firearm and was threatening to harm himself, so officers remained outside the home and called for assistance.

Firefighter/Paramedics from the Foxborough Fire Department, personnel from the Southeastern Massachusetts Regional Communication Center, and officers from the regional asset sharing group known as MetroLEC (Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council) with specialized training and equipment responded in an effort to assist, as did State Police assets.

The man was found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. No responding law enforcement officers discharged their weapons, according to Foxborough Police Chief Michael Grace.

“When the subject did not respond to calls from family or police, we were able to deploy a robotic camera into the home,” Chief Grace said.

The images relayed by the camera prompted officers to enter the structure, where the man was found obviously deceased.

State Police detectives attached to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office have joined the investigation to review the circumstances of the death as required by statute. The body will be brought to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Boston for autopsy.

The name of the decedent and the exact address are being withheld as notification of his family is ongoing.
