Police looking for public’s help after fiery motorcycle crash in Rhode Island ejects, seriously injures, two
Authorities are turning to the public for help after a serious crash resulted in multiple people injured.
According to police, at just after 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, the Coventry Police Department responded to a motorcycle versus motor vehicle collision on New London Turnpike at Wendy Dr., with injuries.
Responding officers and rescue personnel immediately rendered medical aid to the adult male motorcycle operator, and adult female motorcycle passenger, who were thrown several feet into the roadway. In addition, the motorcycle caught fire because of the collision and was put out with fire extinguishers by area neighbors. The operator of the involved vehicle was checked by medical personnel and reportedly uninjured.
Both motorcycle occupants were transported to Rhode Island Hospital in serious condition, where they remain hospitalized.
The Coventry Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Team and Detective Division arrived on scene to conduct an investigation to the facts and circumstances that contributed to the cause. Initial witnesses reportedly observed the motorcycle operating recklessly in the area, prior to the collision.
The Coventry Police Department is seeking additional witnesses to the collision, to include any dashcam video available, or those who witnessed the reported reckless operation of the motorcycle (described as a blue Kawasaki).
