Police are looking for the public’s help to find the owner of a dog that appears to have been abandoned in the woods.

According to Det. Lt. DeSisto just before 10:45 a.m. today, Coventry Animal Control responded to Harkney Hill Rd. (Zeke’s Bridge fishing area) for the report of an abandoned dog.

Animal Control arrived on scene and located a male Pitbull type dog, color black, with a white chest. The dog was located
approximately twenty feet into the woods and appeared to have been tied to a tree using a retractable dog leash. The dog had since freed itself but was staying in the area.

The Coventry Police Department is asking the public for help in identifying the dog’s owner, as it had no collar tags or microchip. It is believed that the dog had been tied to the tree in that area, sometime Monday evening or Tuesday morning.

The dog is currently not available for adoption.

The dog is currently in the care of Coventry Animal Control, and anyone with any information is asked to contact Coventry Animal Control directly at 401-822-9106 or email ACO McCormick at MMcCormick@coventrypd.org.
