Police investigating serious crash on Route 95 that left amputated arm, life-threatening injuries

A serious crash occurred this morning that resulted in a major injury.

According to Dave Procopio of the Massachusetts State Police, at 1:25 a.m. Troopers on patrol out the State Police-Foxboro Barracks responded to a serious single-vehicle crash on the ramp from Route 95 north to Route 128 north in Canton.

Responding Troopers and Canton Firefighters found the driver of the 2012 Toyota Camry, a 28-year-old Randolph man, with serious injuries. The victim’s left arm had been amputated in the crash.

A Trooper applied a tourniquet to the victim, who was transported by ambulance to Boston Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Emergency personnel located the victim’s arm and a Trooper rushed it to BMC.

The car’s passenger, a 23-year-old Randolph woman, was not injured in the crash.

Preliminary investigation by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section indicates that the Camry was traveling northbound on I-95 onto the ramp to Rt. 128 northbound. The driver, for reasons still under investigation, failed to negotiate the ramp’s right bearing curve and drove off the the left edge of the road onto the grass shoulder. The car struck a guardrail, then traveled back across the road, where it struck another guardrail along the right edge of the road.

The scene was cleared at approximately 4 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing. No further information is being released at this time.
