Name released in fatal Route 24 crash in West Bridgewater Saturday
January 26, 2019 – A rollover crash at 8:20 a.m. today on Route 24 in West Bridgwater resulted in the death of a West Bridgewater woman.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Ashley Faiella indicates that Ruth Nickerson, 70, of West Bridgewater was traveling on Route 24 Northbound between Exit 16 and 17 in a 2005 Ford 500 when, for reasons still under investigation, the woman lost control of the vehicle, causing it to rollover and crash. The woman was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
The operator and sole occupant was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton where she was subsequently pronounced deceased.
The cause of this crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, and the Plymouth County Detective Unit.
State Police were assisted on scene by Brockton Fire and EMS, West Bridgewater PD, and MassDOT.
