Police investigating animal cruelty case after dog needs to be euthanized in Coventry
Police are looking for the public’s help in an abused animal case.
On Monday at approximately 7:20 p.m., the Coventry Police along with Animal Control responded to Centre of New England Blvd. in the area of Walmart for a dog found in a soft cooler bag. The dog appeared to be a brown female Chihuahua. She was found unresponsive, but breathing.
The dog was transported immediately to an area animal hospital for treatment. Once evaluated by a veterinarian, it was determined that due to the dog’s condition she had to be humanely euthanized.
The Coventry Police are asking the public for help in identifying the person or persons that may be involved with abandoning this animal.
The dog may have been left in this location within 24 hrs. of being located.
The dog is describe as a female Chihuahua type dog, approximately three to seven years old, eight to ten pounds and brown in color. The dog had no collar, tags or microchip.
