Police investigating after man found unresponsive after hit-and-run on Route 44
DIGHTON — Chief George Nichols says the Dighton Police Department is seeking assistance in the case of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle while walking along Route 44.
An off-duty police officer was traveling along Route 44 at about 10 p.m. Thursday when the officer observed a man laying in the road near the Gulf gas station, 1995 Winthrop St. The officer immediately called for assistance.
The man appeared to be walking alongside Route 44 westbound when he was struck.
He was transported to a local hospital by Dighton Fire crews. His condition is unknown.
Police say they are possibly seeking a Toyota of an unknown year or model in connection with this incident.
