Police investigate fatal pedestrian crash on Interstate 95 Sunday
A man was killed Sunday after being hit walking on an area highway.
According to Rhode Island State Police, a pedestrian was struck and killed on Interstate 95 in the City of Pawtucket, early this afternoon. The victim’s identity is not being released at this time pending notification of family.
At approximately 12:00 p.m., Troopers from the Lincoln Woods Barracks responded to reports of a man walking in the northbound travel lanes on Interstate 95 near Exit 27 in Pawtucket. Troopers were assisted by members of the Pawtucket Police and Fire Departments and preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was struck by oncoming traffic. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by troopers from the Rhode Island State Police Lincoln Barracks, Crash Reconstruction Unit, and the Forensic Services Unit.
