Police in Rhode Island respond to three weekend murders including daughter admitting to stabbing mother to death
Police responded to three separate murders in Rhode Island this past weekend including a daughter reportedly murdering her mother.
According to Det. Sgt. Christopher LeFort, at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, Pawtucket Police and Fire personnel responded to a
9-1-1 call for a stabbing at 245 Manton St., Lot 216.
The female caller, 28-year-old Sharita Watkins of the same address advised 9-1-1 that she stabbed her mother.
Upon arrival, the victim, 53-year-old Mary Melendez also of 245 Manton St., Lot 216, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Detectives interviewed Watkins who gave a full confession. She is being charged with Domestic Violence-Murder-1st Degree and will be arraigned in Providence District Court on Monday morning.
In addition to the murder in Pawtucket, police are looking for the suspect in the stabbing death of 40-year-old Otis Diggs
