Police warn after a vehicle was stolen while the owner was unloading groceries this weekend.

A car was stolen Saturday from in front of a home on New Bridge Street and was found with front end damage in Rockland that night, according to Hingham Police.

Just before 9:00 a.m., a resident of New Bridge Street parked in front of their home to unload groceries. The car, a gray Toyota Scion, was shut off but the keys were left on the front seat. The hazard lights were left on and the rear hatch door was open. A man jumped into the car and drove away toward Cross Street. The hatch was still open, and groceries fell out as he drove away.

A neighbor saw a white male, bald, wearing black pants and a gray hoodie standing nearby a telephone pole who got into the car when the owner carried groceries in the home.

If you have any information about this man (who may have pulled over nearby to close the rear hatch door) contact Hingham Detectives at 781-741-1443 or you can leave an anonymous tip on the “Submit A Tip” tab on our website at hpd.org.
