Police in Massachusetts reminding pet owners after officers break car window to rescue two dogs

Police in Massachusetts would like to remind folks not to leave dogs or other pets in your vehicle unattended for extended periods of time after an incident Friday. Especially when temperatures are extremely hot or cold.

According to Quincy Police, Officer Sean Klimas and Animal Control Officer Nicholas Malvesti responded to a parking garage on Hancock Street to investigate a report of two dogs, unattended and locked inside of a vehicle.

The owner of the vehicle was from out of the area. Fearing for the dogs’ health and safety, a decision was made to break the window of the vehicle.

Both dogs were turned over to Animal Control.

The owner of the vehicle is being charged with two counts of animal cruelty.

Quincy PD thanked the person who called their Communications Division and for Officer Klimas and ACO Malvesti’s quick actions.
