Police cruiser crash sends two, including officer, to hospital
On October 19, 2019 at approximately 10:06PM, Officer Christopher Packard was on duty and travelling south on North Elm street while conducting general patrol. As his cruiser was approaching Brewster Road, a Jeep Wrangler ran the stop sign at Brewster and North Elm Streets, giving the officer nowhere to maneuver, causing a severe crash.
As responding units arrived, they noticed both operators required medical assistance as well as both vehicles sustaining heavy damage. The West Bridgewater Fire Department treated both the operator and the injured officer and transported them to area hospitals. Officer Packard was treated at a local hospital, subsequently released, and is expected to have a full recovery. The operator of the Jeep Wrangler was transported to an area hospital with serious yet not life threatening injuries. His status is unknown at this time.
This incident is currently under investigation with a potential of several charges pending.
