Police and the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office are investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place late Friday night.

According to Chief Keith Boone, just after 11:30 p.m., dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a disturbance at a home on Central Street in Easton. Upon arrival, Easton officers encountered a potentially lethal situation involving a man holding a knife and drew their service weapons. An Easton officer intervened and fired his weapon, striking the man and grazing another resident.

Officers immediately rendered aid. Easton Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene, and transported those injured to area hospitals for treatment.

The man remains in an area hospital, and is being held in custody pending arraignment. The resident was treated for their injury and released.

The officer has been placed on paid leave, following standard procedure, as the shooting is investigated.

No other details have been released as of yet.

The matter remains under investigation by the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office and state troopers assigned to that office will be taking the lead on the investigation.
