A reported incident at a Providence gas station led to the arrest of ATV riders Sunday.

According to ABC 6 and police, three riders surrounded an officer on Smithfield Avenue at approximately 7 p.m.

An officer told an ATV rider to step away after noticing him at a gas pump. The ATV is not street legal in Providence.

Up to 100 ATV riders were reportedly near the scene.

According to police, a few of them began to circle the officer.

The officer then called for backup so the three ATV riders could be arrested.
