The Fall River Police Department arrested a city man after seizing a firearm reportedly stolen out of state.
According to police, on Tuesday, with assistance from the Fall River Police Department’s Emergency Services Unit, the Community Action & Suppression Team executed a search warrant at a residence on Vestal Street.
The target of the search warrant was 35-year-old Taurean French, as detectives had developed information indicating that French was illegally in possession of a firearm.
During the search, detectives located a large capacity CZ P-09 semi-automatic handgun in French’s bedroom. The firearm was equipped with a 15-round magazine containing 15 rounds of live 9mm ammunition. Detectives subsequently determined that the handgun had been reported stolen out of Portland, Maine.
French was placed under arrest and charged with the following offenses:
• Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm
• Possession of a Firearm without LTC/FID Card
• Possession of Ammunition without LTC/FID Card
• Receiving Stolen Property
• Improper Storage of Large Capacity Firearm
Court records show that French pled not guilty at arraignment Tuesday in Fall River District Court. He was issued a $10,000 bond/$1,000 cash bail. If bail is posted, he will not be allowed to possess any firearms or dangerous weapons and there will be GPS monitoring with home confinement from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
A probable cause hearing is scheduled for November 24th.
