Police arrest burglary suspect in Fall River, seize three loaded guns, thousands in merchandise
According to Brockton Police, an intruder who broke into several homes and stole cash, firearms, and jewelry, including replicas of New England Patriots championship rings, is behind bars with no bail. The victims reported multiple burglaries in March and April. Together with patrol officers, detectives gathered and sifted through the evidence, which led them to the suspect.
When the Brockton Police identified Melvin Arias-Brown, 22, as the man behind a string of burglaries on the city’s north side, they executed a search warrant at his home. They found three stolen loaded guns and ammunition at his residence. The weapons were not correctly stored and were accessible to children in the house. Police charged the suspect’s mother and stepfather with child endangerment and weapons offenses. Detectives also recovered several jewelry pieces at Arias-Brown’s residence and a pawn shop where he sold some of the items. The stolen goods were worth tens of thousands of dollars.
Upon receiving information from Brockton Police, the MA State Police located the suspect in Fall River and arrested him. At his arrest, Brown was carrying a loaded gun stolen out of Avon.
In addition to the Massachusetts State Police, the Rhode Island State Police, Westport Police, and Avon Police assisted in the investigation.
