Person and dog killed, another injured in crash on Route 495
Troopers Monday night from the State Police-Leominster Barracks responded to a single-vehicle crash, off the road and into the wood line, on Route 495 southbound in Bolton. The crash resulted in life-threatening injuries to one of the occupants of the car.
According to Dave Procopio of the Massachusetts State Police, the preliminary investigation indicates at 8:35 p.m., a 2007 Mini Cooper with New York registration was travelling south on Route 495 in Bolton when the operator swerved to avoid hitting an animal that was in the road. The sudden steering caused the operator to lose control of the car, which went off the road to the right and struck a small tree. The operator, who was wearing a seatbelt, was determined to be deceased at the scene. A dog in the vehicle, who was also belted, was also determined to be deceased at the scene. A passenger, who was also belted, was injured and transported to UMass Medical Center in Worcester.
The deceased male operator in this crash is identified as Seyhan Isik, 31, of Bogota, N.J. The passenger was a 30-year-old woman from New York City who sustained minor injuries
The investigation into the crash by the State Police-Leominster Barracks, Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and Crime Scene Services Section is ongoing.
