The recovery of over 1,000 stolen pieces of mail in Massachusetts has led to the arrests of two men after a pursuit.
According to police, in the early morning hours, Newton Police received information that Wellesley PD was in pursuit of a vehicle involved in a mail theft in their city. Around 4:00 a.m. this morning, an NPD officer observed the suspect vehicle on Route 9 in Newton and conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Hammond Pond Parkway. During the motor vehicle stop, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed towards Brookline.
A short time later, the same NPD officer located the suspect vehicle crashed on Newton Street in Brookline.
After a short foot pursuit and investigation, two adult males were placed under arrest for Receiving Stolen Property and Failure to Stop for Police.
Over a thousand pieces of stolen mail were recovered.
The two suspects, Yasser Teixeira Mendonca of New York and Dahshein Karon Perry of Massachusetts were arraigned in Newton District Court today.
