Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III today announced the arrest of one suspect connected to the Wednesday afternoon homicide of Adilson Neves in New Bedford, and is also announcing that an arrest warrant has been issued for the suspect accused of the shooting itself.

Cheyanne Miranda, 31, was arrested in Fall River earlier today by members of District Attorney Quinn’s Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit and New Bedford Police. Miranda has been a New Bedford resident most of her life, but very recently moved to Fall River. She is charged with being an Accessory to Murder-After the Fact.

The defendant was briefly arraigned this afternoon in New Bedford District Court. Assistant District Attorney James Powderly requested that the defendant be held on $10,000 cash bail. However, Judge Thomas Barrett released the defendant on personal recognizance, but first ordered her to be fitted with a GPS monitoring device and have no contact with anyone associated with the case. She is due back in court August 3.

Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation, all reports associated with the case were impounded by the court for the time being.

An arrest warrant charging Daquan Blanchard, 24, of Fall River, with Murder and Carrying an Illegal Firearm has also been issued. The suspect is being sought by local and state authorities at this time.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts or the homicide case itself is urged to contact the Bristol County District Attorney’s State Police Detective Unit at 508-993-2016 or the New Bedford Police Detectives Bureau at 508-991-6300, ext. 79519.

Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office, Homicide Unit prosecutors and New Bedford Police continue to actively investigate the homicide, which occurred Wednesday afternoon in The City of New Bedford.

At approximately 3:12 pm Wednesday, New Bedford Police responded to 911 calls reporting a shooting outside of 67 David Street. When first responders arrived on scene, they located a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim, later identified as Adilson Neves, 36, of New Bedford, was rushed to Saint Luke’s Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
