One dead, another injured in rollover crash in East Providence

A local early Sunday morning single-vehicle rollover crash claimed the life of a man.

The collision took place on the Wampanoag Trail in East Providence at approximately 4:00 a.m. near Forbes Street, when the vehicle carrying two young adults overturned.

According to WJAR 10, the male occupant was pronounced dead at the scene, while the female passenger sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

East Providence police closed part of the roadway for several hours, diverting traffic until approximately 9:30 a.m. as they investigated the cause of the crash.

The victim’s name has not yet been released.
