One dead, another injured, in early morning shooting at Newport club
One person has died, and another has been injured, after a shooting at an area club.
Just after 1:15 a.m., Newport police officers responded to the Friendly Sons of Newport at 3 Farewell Street for a call concerning a person inside of the building who had been shot in the upper torso.
Upon arrival, it was determined there was a second gunshot victim who was alert and standing.
Both victims were transported to Rhode Island Hospital. One of the victims later died from the injuries sustained in the shooting. The second person was later released.
The suspect left the scene after the shooting.
