Officials say responders have located body of missing kayaker that overturned in pond
The body of a kayaker who reportedly fell into the water has been located.
According to Michael Healey of the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, divers recovered the body of the man just after 5:00 p.m. at Olney Pond in Lincoln Woods.
Healey stated it is unknown if he was wearing a life jacket or not.
Just after 3:00 p.m., two witnesses told DEM that they saw a kayak overturn with the kayaker going into the pond.
The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Healey appreciated the response by Lincoln, Cumberland, Smithfield, and North Providence Fire and Rescue.
