Officers commended for actions, man arrested, after fiery crash on Cape Cod
Officers rushed to the scene of a fiery crash on Cape Cod recently.
According to police, on Friday, just before midnight, the Yarmouth Police Department received a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle crash with the vehicle fully engulfed. Officers responded to the scene and approached the vehicle to assess the situation.
Despite the potential risks to their safety, officers broke the driver’s side front and rear windows to gain access to the passenger compartment. Fortunately, it was determined that the vehicle was unoccupied.
The Yarmouth Fire Department arrived and quickly extinguished the fire. The vehicle was a total loss.
The operator, identified as 42-year-old Arthur Garabrant III of South Yarmouth, was located at a nearby residence. Garabrant was subsequently issued a summons for Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Marked Lanes Violation, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
The Yarmouth Police Department commended Sergeant Richard Fichter, Officer Samantha Voltolini, Officer Mark Noone, Officer TJ Belinski, Officer Liz Scott for their actions at the scene.
